## Best eSIM for South Korea 2025 — Seoul to Busan Coverage Test
[IMAGE:flat-design-south-korea-map-seoul-busan-signal-flat-icons]
South Korea has one of the fastest mobile networks in the world — consistently ranked in global top 5 for 4G/5G speeds. Using an eSIM here is an absolute pleasure. The question is which eSIM gives you the best value for that exceptional infrastructure.
I spent two weeks in Seoul, a few days in Busan, and a weekend on Jeju Island. Here’s my guide.

### South Korea’s Networks
Three operators dominate: SKT (SK Telecom, largest and fastest), KT (strong national coverage), and LG U+ (competitive urban speeds). All three have 5G. Most eSIM providers use SKT or KT.
### Speed Test Results
| Location | Airalo (SKT) | Holafly |
|—|—|—|
| Seoul (Gangnam) | 90 Mbps ↓ | 78 Mbps ↓ |
| Seoul (Hongdae) | 85 Mbps ↓ | 72 Mbps ↓ |
| Busan (Haeundae) | 70 Mbps ↓ | 65 Mbps ↓ |
| Jeju Island | 55 Mbps ↓ | 48 Mbps ↓ |
| KTX train (Seoul-Busan) | 35-60 Mbps ↓ | 30-55 Mbps ↓ |
90 Mbps in Seoul. That’s almost my home fibre speed. South Korea mobile infrastructure is genuinely remarkable.
### Airalo South Korea — The Pick
**Pricing:**
– 3GB / 30 days: ~$9
– 10GB / 30 days: ~$19
– 20GB / 30 days: ~$29
For a two-week South Korea trip, 5-10GB is comfortable unless you’re heavily streaming.
### Asia Regional Plan — Better Value for Combined Trips
If you’re combining South Korea with Japan or Southeast Asia, the Airalo Asia Regional plan covers all of them. This is my go-to recommendation for the Japan-Korea-SEA trip that many travellers do.

### Jeju Island Coverage
Jeju Island has excellent coverage — better than many Southeast Asian islands I’ve visited. 4G is available essentially everywhere on the island including hiking trails on Hallasan. The island’s popularity means infrastructure investment has been significant.
### 5G eSIM in South Korea
Some Airalo plans for South Korea support 5G if your phone is 5G-capable. In Seoul, I tested 5G on a Pixel 7 and hit 180 Mbps — genuinely fast. For a travel eSIM, 4G is perfectly fine for all practical purposes.

### My Recommendation
– **South Korea-only trip:** Airalo 10GB (~$19)
– **Korea + Japan:** Airalo Asia Regional 20GB (~$28)
– **Korea + Japan + SEA:** Airalo Asia Regional 20GB, worth it for everything
