Most eSIM users never need to think about APN settings — they configure automatically. But occasionally, connectivity issues trace back to incorrect APN configuration. Here’s what you need to know.

What is an APN?
APN (Access Point Name) is a configuration setting that tells your phone how to connect to the carrier’s network for data services. Think of it as the address your phone uses to find the internet through a specific carrier.
For most eSIM users: your APN configures automatically when you install the eSIM profile. You don’t need to do anything.
When Might APN Cause Issues?
APN problems are rare but can occur when:
- eSIM installed but no data connection appears — APN may not have configured
- Data worked initially, then stopped — APN settings may have been overwritten
- After a phone software update — sometimes resets custom APN settings
- After switching between multiple eSIMs — incorrect APN may persist from previous plan
How to Check APN on iPhone
iPhone hides APN settings by default. To access:
Settings → Cellular → select your Airalo eSIM → tap “Network Selection” → look for APN/Cellular Data settings
For newer iOS versions: APN settings may be managed by the carrier profile and not user-editable directly. If APN is greyed out, it’s carrier-controlled.
How to Check APN on Android
Settings → Network & Internet → Mobile Network → your eSIM → Access Point Names
You’ll see one or more APN entries.
Airalo APN Settings (If Needed Manually)
Airalo’s roaming plans use the underlying carrier’s APN. Typically you shouldn’t need to enter these manually — the eSIM profile includes them.
If you need Airalo’s APN for manual entry:
- Open Airalo app → My eSIMs
- Tap your active plan
- Look for “Details” or “Installation” → APN information may be listed
- Or contact Airalo support: Help → Chat with us

Common APN-Related Issues and Fixes
Issue: Data not working after eSIM installation
Fix: Restart phone. If still no data, go to Settings → Cellular → confirm your Airalo eSIM is set as default for mobile data.
Issue: eSIM shows signal but no data
Fix: Settings → Cellular → Data Roaming: ensure it’s turned ON for your eSIM line. Also check APN is set.
Issue: APN field is blank on Android
Fix: Manually enter APN details from Airalo support. Save and restart.
Issue: Multiple APN entries conflicting
Fix: Delete all non-active eSIM APNs. Keep only the relevant carrier’s APN.
Enabling Data Roaming — Often Confused with APN
A common fix that’s separate from APN:
iPhone: Settings → Cellular → select Airalo eSIM line → Data Roaming: ON
Without Data Roaming enabled on your eSIM line, it won’t connect to data even with perfect APN settings.
For Airalo Users — The Quick Fix Checklist
- Restart phone
- Settings → Cellular → confirm Airalo eSIM is selected for mobile data
- Data Roaming: ON for Airalo line
- Home network / home SIM: deactivate if conflicting
- Still nothing → contact Airalo support with device model and iOS version
